Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino - What We Loved and What We Didn't
A travel blog with reviews, recommendations, and photography of our favorite adventures
Welcome to Off Chasing Sunsets!
A little bit about me first: I have a nursing degree from West Virginia University and have worked in critical care and trauma nursing for over a decade. My husband and I have three children; Finley, Luke, and Lyla. Our lives changed dramatically with the arrival of our daughter, Finley. I gave up my career at the hospital and ventured out on my own and became a self-employed legal nurse consultant. Once I got a taste of what it was like to be home in the evenings, and not be called out in the middle of the night for emergencies, and get to spend holidays with my family, I knew I could never go back to life as it was.
My husband works offshore and is away from home for six months a year. Our son was born with a terminal illness and has since passed away. We adopted our third child who was born addicted. Through all of this, I became a published author when I wrote a book about what it was like to go through the loss of a child. I discovered a true love of writing and sharing our experiences.
If I said that writing and traveling just fell into our laps, I would be lying. It was very intentional. We have sacrificed a lot. We have lost a lot. But we have also gained a lot; we've gained perspective, appreciation, hope, gratitude, and a love for the gifts we have been given in life. We have focused inward on our family more than ever and have used traveling as our quality time to make memories and just enjoy the ones we love.
Life usually comes with a complicated back story, ours sure did. But this is now and these are our adventures that we hope you enjoy reading about. Thank you for checking out our story!
